After Chris Hall played The Cavern with Paul McCartney in December 1999, he was asked by Cavern boss Bill Heckle if he'd come back with R Cajun & the Zydeco Brothers and play The Beatles Festival.
He was told that in amongst all the stages featuring Beatles bands from all over the world, there would be a stage devoted to world music - and so the deal was struck!
"It was kind of strange to be back - the last time I'd been on a stage with Paul McCartney, this time I was surrounded by McCartney lookalikes. But even stranger was an unannounced jam with the Run Devil Run tribute band on the Cavern stage. The band sounded excellent and many people said that they were the highlight of the festival. All credit to the band and a special thanks to Will Schillinger from Pilot Studios in New York for a great sound mix. R Cajun made many new fans and have been rebooked for next year for the World Stage on 27 August and The Cavern on the 28th.
