Zydeco is the spiritual cousin of the Louisiana Cajun dancehall scene.
It has similar roots to Cajun music in that it comes from the swamps but the similarity ends there. It's really a completely different music.
It's the music of the black population of Louisiana and as such it has very strong influences from the blues and Caribbean music.
It features a powerful rhythm section that is close to that of an R'n'B band overlaid with the syncopated sound of the rubboard and a funky bluesy accordion. In The USA a new movement of young bands are playing a style incorporating blues, soul, and Cajun with modern dance grooves from hip hop, rave, and reggae.
The result is an awesome powerhouse groove. Zydecomotion takes a lot of their influence from these new bands like Keith Frank, Beau Jocque, Chris Ardoin, Lil' Pookie, J Paul Jnr and Zydeco Force whilst also incorporating the more old time Zydeco artists like Boozoo Chavis, John Delafose, and Willis Prudhomme.
Over these influences Zydecomotion have written their own original songs to create a sound that's ready to rock the nation!
